Small comes fitted with a lightweight carabiner, perfect for the tiniest puppies still finding their feet. Medium has a slightly larger and stronger carabiner, ideal for bigger puppies ready for a little more adventure. Both leads measure 152 cm in length. Small has a width of 1.5 cm, medium has a width of 2 cm.

The story behind it
Why I designed it
The Puppy Strap Leash came from a straightforward observation: most leash aren't designed with puppies in mind. They're adult leashes in small sizes, and the difference is noticeable – in the weight, the carabiner, the way the whole thing fits a dog that might still weigh less than three kilos.
I wanted a leash that acknowledged that a puppy is not just a small dog. The two sizes were important to me for exactly that reason – Small for the tiniest puppies who need everything to feel lighter and more manageable, and Medium for the puppies growing fast and ready for something with a little more presence.
The logo on both sides was never just decoration. It was about making the lead feel complete – something worth choosing, worth photographing, worth keeping long after your puppy has grown up.
What it took to get it right
The biggest challenge with the Puppy Strap Leash was the decision to offer two sizes rather than one. It would have been simpler to build a single leash and call it universal – but a carabiner that works well on a four-kilo puppy feels oversized and clunky on a dog that small, and one scaled for a larger puppy doesn't give the same sense of security on the tiniest dogs.
We tested different carabiner weights and clip mechanisms across both sizes, looking for the point where each one felt right for its intended dog – secure and reliable, but appropriately scaled. Getting the logo to sit cleanly on both the 1.5 cm and 2 cm webbing also required separate adjustments, since the weave behaves differently at each width.
When both sizes finally felt like they belonged together as a set, we knew the leash was ready.

My story
Hi, I’m Noa – designer and founder of Staey. I live in Denmark with my dog Alba, and I started Staey because I was tired of choosing between functionality and aesthetics.
Every Staey design starts with real moments from my life with my own Alba. I sketch the first ideas at my kitchen table, and my team and I test, tweak and adjust until it works – for your dog and for you. Because practical can (and should) look beautiful.
