Why I designed it
Not every product starts with a frustration. Some begin with a feeling.
With the Ava Carrier, I wanted to create something that felt like a gentle hug – for both the dog and the human. I often found myself wishing for a soft, beautiful bag that could keep a small dog safe and close on busy days. Not bulky. Not sporty. Just soft, elegant, and calm.
A space they could feel safe in – whether we were hopping on a train or grabbing coffee in the city.
What it took to get it right
This carrier had to balance structure and softness. Too floppy, and it wouldn’t support the dog. Too rigid, and it would lose that “cozy cocoon” feel.
We chose a beautiful teddy fabric that’s both soft against fur and visually rich. The size was carefully tested – big enough to stretch out, but small enough to feel secure. The built-in carabiner adds peace of mind, while the handles are padded for comfort on long days.
It’s meant to move with you – to make everyday adventures feel easy and intimate.

My story
Hi, I’m Noa – designer and founder of Staey. I live in Denmark with my dog Alba, and I started Staey because I was tired of choosing between functionality and aesthetics.
Every Staey design starts with real moments from my life with my own Alba. I sketch the first ideas at my kitchen table, and my team and I test, tweak and adjust until it works – for your dog and for you. Because practical can (and should) look beautiful.
